PBBeca Joint Venture Victorian Desalination Project

Geotherm developed a flowable bedding/backfill material for the 88km’s of power cable connecting the Victorian Desalination plant to the main Melbourne grid in Cranbourne.

The volume of material required was enormous, and proved a huge consideration when selecting the backfill.

The final product was designed using local quarry products, providing a cost saving on material transport.

The backfill/bedding provided a low TR value plus a low compressive strength reading to allow the material to be excavated if need be.
